Why We Embrace Being a Disability Confident Committed Employer

Disability Confident Committed is a Government Scheme to get more people with disabilities into work by removing the stigma of being disabled in work, teaching employers how to deal with any issues that arise from disabilities and giving people the confidence to change and challenge widespread concepts and beliefs that people hold in regards to those with disabilities. Being Disability Confident could help you discover someone your business just can’t do without.Disability Confident to us, however, means something a bit more personal. The company's founder, Jane, has a son with Autism which means she's pretty much been unofficially disability confident for seventeen years in supporting him with what it is he wants to do. She's been looking to expand into...

Give your Patio a Coastal Makeover.

It's easy to neglect your outside living areas, especially when they are not being used much in the colder seasons. It doesn't take a lot of effort, however to improve your outdoor living space during warm weather so that it almost becomes another room for you and your family to use. Here are some tips on how to spruce up your backyard! 1. Declutter I love a good declutter, but finding the motivation for it is the worst. Our beautiful, funny, loving and inspirational son was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 6, now in his teens he is a polite,...

Here we are by the sea on a blustery day in September 2014, we had decided to sail our collection of Star Yachts at the boating lake at Hoylake. I thought you might like it if I shared the story of these delightful wooden yachts from Birkenhead. A Belgian by the name of Franz Marie Denye was the owner of a successful boatyard business. It was upon the outbreak of WW1 that he decided to bring his wife and young family to set up business in the traditional boat building area of Birkenhead.  His skills ensured he found employment and during the evenings he would carve small wooden yachts, little did he know that they were to make his fortune! By now the...

Coastal Living Style Tips - how to get that ocean style!

I  just love the Coastal Living style, I love the blue hues and white colours that are so calming and relaxing and you don't always have to have a stunning sea view to achieve this look! Here's some tips on giving your living space a touch of the ocean..... Throws. Throws are a portable and cheap way of giving a sofa a face-lift. I find them great for pets and kids as they can easily be washed and they protect the more expensive sofa underneath.    Cushions. Again another relatively inexpensive way of jazzing up your sofa. Choose a variety of scatter cushions to achieve a casual look. Different sizes or shapes for example.     Accessories. The trick with accessories...
